In 2023, iconic characters from the original Star Wars™ trilogy featured on official UK coins for the first time. A four-coin collection was issued to celebrate 40 years since the release of Return of the Jedi. This was the third 50p coin in the series, featuring brother-sister duo Luke Skywalker™ and Princess Leia™, two of the most powerful characters in the Star Wars™ series. The reverse design also includes a lenticular feature that changes between the Rebel Alliance Starbird and the Winged Jedi Crest when tilted. The obverse features King Charles III’s portrait.
