Iconic wartime singer, Dame Vera Lynn, was famous for boosting the morale of British troops during the Second World War. Coined as the ‘Forces Sweetheart’, Vera Lynn’s life and achievements have been commemorated on a brand new UK £2 coin. Designed by The Royal Mint, the coin features a detailed portrait of Vera Lynn as she appeared during the height of her fame. The obverse features the fifth portrait of Her Majesty by Jody Clark.
