Queen Elizabeth II £5: Churchill

Years of issue:

Coin Information:

In 1965, Winston Churchill was depicted on a crown - the very first time someone outside of the Royal Family had been honoured on a British coin. It was the year of his death, and a nation was mourning the loss of an enormously popular prime minister. This £5 coin has been issued to mark the 50th anniversary of his death, and in design similar to the original coin, Churchill’s face features prominently on the reverse.
